Red Nose Day 2013

So it's been a while since my last post as I've been a bit busy and haven't really felt like posting anything. But I'm now trying to get back into the swing of things again and what better way then to do a post about this years Red Nose Day inspired nails!

So last Friday (15th March) was Red Nose Day and I thought I'd get into the spirit of things by purchasing a t-shirt designed by Stella McCartney. I chose a Beatles one, mainly cos the Marilyn Monroe ones had all sold out!

Now this wasn't enough for me I had to do something on my nails to commemorate the day.

So I opted for a white background on all my fingers except my ring fingers, which was Barry M matte white. I then used a dotting tool and a red glitter polish by Barry M to create the red noses against the white background.

Next I used the red glitter Barry M polish to create a circle covering about half of my ring finger. After this I then used a dotting tool to create the whites of the eyes and a black nail art pen to create the black dots of the eyes and the smile.

The final step was to seal in the design with a top coat.

I was really impressed with how it turned out, even for a quick manicure!

OPI Mariah Carey collection

Hi all!

Yesterday I finally got my order of the new OPI Mariah Carey collection after what seemed like a lifetime of waiting! Nevertheless it was most certainly worth the wait. I have yet to try out all of the colours but I love how they all look in the bottle.
Now the hard part came when I decided on which to use for my mani, but I managed to choose in the end. I opted for A Butterfly Moment, Pink Yet Lavender and The Impossible.
A Butterfly Moment is a creme base nail polish and a stunning light, neutral pink colour with a hint of shimmer that's suitable for everyday use. I used two coats to get a nice opaque look.
Pink Yet Lavender is a gorgeous glitter with hexagonal pieces in pink and a mixture of coloured micro glitter. I used one coat over A Butterfly Moment. Absolutely stunning on the nail, and it's supposed to be similar to Katy Perry's Teenage Dream but I don't own this colour so I can't comment as to wether it is or not.
On my ring finger I used one of the liquid sand colours in The Impossible. This is a lovely red with in my opinion a hint of pink tone to it. Stunning pieces of star glitter shapes, hexagonal pieces and micro glitter. The feel of this on my nail is not as rough as I thought it might be, in fact I think it made a nice change from having smooth nails. I definitely love the effect it gives and can't wait to try out the other colours! I used two coats to get the desired look. The stars in this liquid sand are deffo my fave aspect lol.

I will do more posts on this collection as and when I try out the other colours, but right now I'm loving this combination too much to try out any of the others!

Anyone else have this collection or thinking about getting it? I'd deffo recommend it!

Uses for old/unused nail polish...

Hey there!

The other day I decided I wanted to sort through my extensive nail polish collection (I only got through one draw full before I decided I'd had enough!)...whilst I was sorting through them I thought what can I do with the old/unused nail polishes to give them a new purpose sort of thing.

Anyway whilst pondering what to do I went onto my trusty friend google and searched for uses for nail polish. Now to my surprise I discovered a few things you can do with your old/unwanted nail polish, like using them to paint on your house keys etc.

There was one idea that I liked the most and that was to make your own jewellery. So I did some more research and found a blog which had good, clear instructions on what you need and how to do it. (Now I'm posting this on my phone so I don't have access to the persons blog with it on but when I get chance to go on my laptop I shall add the link in for you all to have a look at)!

So after finding out what I needed I set about searching for the items on eBay and found some for a reasonable price. Next I ordered them and waited for them to arrive so I could get to work...

I didn't have too long to wait for them to arrive and set about making one that weekend. Now I'm really impressed with how easy and effective they look and also how cheap it is to make!

They're deffo something I want to continue with in my spare time and you may even want to give it a go too.

First attempt at stamping...

Hi everyone!

I decided to re paint my nails tonight so thought I'd do them in more subtle shades for a change. I opted for OPI's Skull and Glossbones and Steady As She Rose from the Pirates of the Caribbean collection.
These are two of my favourite colours from this collection. They're nice and subtle but quite elegant at the same time. I used two coats of each colour to get an even application and the opaqueness I wanted. Now I considered leaving my nails plain but I haven't had any nail art on my nails for a little while now so I thought I'd try at my stamping kit I've had since just before Christmas.
Now I'm not gonna lie I had a little difficulty getting used to the stamping kit at first. I found that instead of rolling the stamper like it suggests on the back in the instructions, it's best to just place it on and back off again.
I actually used two different stamping plates one which came with my stamping kit which I believe is m3 and one I got off eBay I think that one was b44 but I will have to check that for next time.
I really like the stamping effect once you get the hang of it it looks really nice and quicker then doing nail art freehand.
Considering this was my first time I think the end results were ok!
As they say practice makes perfect ;-)

Nails Inc Review...

Hi guys,

So I've recently gone onto Nails Inc polishes and I'm starting to build up my collection (as if I need any more but nail polish is an addiction and something I love).
I've been looking online at swatches of some colours which have caught my eye and this one I'm about to talk about was one of them. So with that it's time to move on with the review :)...

The other day I was deciding what colour to paint my nails and I opted for Nails Inc's Garrick Street. Like I said before this is one of my new purchases and I'm really pleased I took the plunge.
I found it easy to work with, fast drying (which is a major plus in my books for any nail polish) and the coverage was good. The colour was amazing! It shifts depending on the light from a blue to a purple and I'm sure I saw a hint of green in there too in certain lighting.
This colour reminds me of one by Models Own from the Beetlejuice collection called Aqua Violet. I'll have to try it on my nails to compare it properly but from the bottle they're pretty similar.
Anyway I'm really loving this shade and have been wearing it for a couple of days now and have had no chipping or signs of wear and tear.
A massive thumbs up from me!

Sorry the pictures aren't that good the lighting isn't very good here due to the weather. But hopefully you'll see what I mean about this gorgeous colour!

Birchbox...

Hey there, I'm back again :) this time I wanna talk about this subscription box I've just joined called Birchbox. It was previously known as Joliebox but has been took over by the American company known as Birchbox.
January was the first box that had been rebranded with the Birchbox logo and packaging (fuschia pink - what's not to love about that colour?!).

Anyways I've been subscribing to Glossybox for 5 months now and have enjoyed the concept of getting some samples of products that I wouldn't necessarily go out and purchase myself. I have generally liked the glossyboxes I have received so far, but I fancied giving a different company a go to see how they faired against one another.

Now I've only received one Birchbox so far so I haven't got enough to go on to make a complete judgement on them both, however, I can say that I actually prefer the packaging of the Birchbox to Glossybox. As for the difference in products etc, that remains to be truly compared once I've received a few lore Birchboxes :). Once I have more of an idea on the two boxes and the differences I shall make another post, but for now I will leave you with a few pictures of the Birchbox.

Blog Redesign

Hi everyone!

Another quick post for today just to say that my blog's had a bit of a makeover, still considering changing some things but I like how it looks at the moment; alot better then before I think!
I'm considering having a picture behind the name of my blog, but finding one I like is another matter. Any ideas on what I can include in my blog or how to make it more presentable is very much welcomed. Just drop me a message in the comments box below :)

New nails...

Just a quickie for now to show off my nails for the week (maybe not the whole week depends if I feel like redoing them or not).
Anyways I decided to use OPI If You Moust You Moust and OPI Nothin' Mousie Bout It and on the accent finger I used Nails Inc Cheyne Walk (one of my new nail polishes).
I gave up trying to fish the hearts out of the Nothin' Mousie Bout It and just opted for putting the glitter on top (less hassle)!
The glitter topcoat hasn't really come out in my picture but it does look lovely!

Too much nail polish...

Hey guys,

So I've been debating for a while whether or not to make a nail polish rack to show off my nail polish collection.
I've watched numerous YouTube videos on how to make one and thought shall I or shan't I? In the end I decided to go for it and I must say I'm impressed with how it turned out for my first attempt!
Now I did have it hanging up on my wall but unfortunately after it being up for a number of hours it decided it was going to fall down and I ended up losing three of my nail polishes (fortunately it was only the three and I can replace them).
Other then that it was a fantastic project and I now just need to figure out a better way to hang it on the wall.
Anyway here's how it looked before the accident!

Wow it's been a while!

So I really need to post more often, since starting this blog I've hardly used it as much as I intended; but that's how it is when you get distracted by other things!
Anyway moving on...I'm going to do my best to post more frequently this year (well tbh I don't have much else to do and I may as well spend my time doing things I love and sharing it with you all!) (Well that's if anyone actually reads my blog of course) lol.
Right skipping to the fun bit now...I recently decided it was time I tried Nails Inc brand of nail polish, so I have purchased a few of their products (most of which I'm still waiting to be delivered) and I must say I'm very impressed with the one I've tried so far which at this moment in time I have completely forgotten the name of but shall include it in later on in this post.
Now the only thing I'm not really keen on is the price of one bottle especially as I'm on a very low income and don't have much to splurge with. Nevertheless I'm a right bargain shopper so I do my research and tend to look for where I can find it cheapest and I have to say I've gotten a pro at it since I started doing it about 2 years ago!
I'm very much looking forward to trying out my other Nails Inc nail polishes when they arrive and will do my best to remember to upload a pic of them once I've tested them out!
So in keeping with that I will add a picture of my first Nails Inc mani 😃 which was with Berwick St Market (the name finally came to me) lol.
